Hotel Rwanda Genocide.

We just watched Hotel Rwanda and learned about the genocide in Rwanda. We saw alot of conflict throughout the movie and it was really effective. The movie made me think alot about conflict and helped me to bring it back to my daily life and who Im in conflict with. It was so sad to see so many lives taken for no reason ..and it really hit me that this actually happened ..it wasn't that long ago . We learned so much in the religion module about conflict ...and it became real to me that this happens . The genocide is so sad and moving ..there are no words to describe how I feel after watching it . Seeing corpses left behind ...they were humans they had hopes and dreams and passions and their lives were thrown away because of nothing. Their whole world fell into destruction.

Its hard to dance with the devil on your back !

Well... ! tonight all TY's are performing in the music night ! we are singing and putting instrumentals to the song ''Shake it Out'' by florence and the machine <3 We've been working on this since the start of the year so its all really exciting :) We are on our easter holidays in 2 days and the weather in Ireland is amazing at the moment which is a first :) Yesterday ! Our class Banba organised a sports day for the First Years which was really fun there was music ! , Me and Sarah were incharge of shot put ! it was a bit of fun :) and our class get to have a party of Friday because of our great organisational skills :P ...Today my Young Scientist group won a prize for the best presentation out of TY ..we got a certificate and a voucher ! :O ..we were so happy :) and can't wait for scifest now :) !

Swim a mile with a smile :D

The next exciting thing in our TY calender is swim a mile with a smile ! can't wait ! I did it last year and it was great fun! so I can only imagine what it'll be like doing it with the whole of TY ! :) I'm so excited for the Easter holidays but the sooner Easters here that means Ty is nearly over :( ! Well in English were reading the Great Gatsby by ourselves at home ! I'm excited to get into a book ! :) In geography we're learning how to Map our Round the World project ! on google maps and it was tough at the start but now its great ! although we're not doing that many random things ATM ! Theres never a second that's boring :) In mini company were branding and marketing our own Cereal which is so fun ! :) and In home ec were creating our Dream Room ! with various colour schemes and learning about the art of interior design ! :) well better get a move on with all these projects :)

Quit yo jibba jabber u ain't hurt ! -.-

Well yesterday we had an amazing day ! all TYs were shipped off to Army braveforce training ! it was so much fun although very tiring !  We started off running then we came to some tunnels ..then there was mud :O that we had to crawl in then there was uphill running and swimming through ditch water :L basically we were doing army training for the day ! 3.5 Kilometres of obsticles and jumping and running it was so fun ! such a rewarding feeling when your finished though ! :) I slept well lastnight anyways :) . Tommorow we have La glas it means green day its for St.Patricks day our whole school dresses up and gets into the spirit ! all the TYs are going to look pretty crazy tommorow :) should be good and then a nice long weekend to finish off this tiring week :D can't wait :)

Columbe Columbe Columbe

Well our first day back to normal school life and we are sent to the library to learn how to play the Jembe drum ! It was so intresting we learned loads of calls and responses beats and about the drum and how its totally different to the Bongo ! although the Jembe isnt very well known in our part of the world ! apparently it is very popular in Africa and it is a big part of their culture ! :O it was a really intresting day :) and was a bit of class bonding time aswell ! :)

What a disappointment !

Well last week T.Y.s were on their work experience. I was so excited to go to the local vet down the village as I have wanted to be a vet so badly ! since I was younger . I was so shocked at the experience .. ! they were not welcoming atall and had nothing for me to do ! I observed surgeries which was so intresting but I was left to do nothing but mop the floors for the rest of the day ! They were really badly organised and I didnt like how they treated me atall ! I would not recommend anyone to go their ever .. ! I didnt really learn anything about myself either because I've always wanted a career in veterinary and with the experience I had it just left me feeling muddled and confused about my future career :(

STARBUCKS , KILDARE , PILGRIMAGE

Hey :) had a great day 2 days ago we went on a pilgrimage to Kildare town :) We went here as we have been doing so much work on St.Brigid the patron saint of Kildare that the teachers shipped us off to Kildare and lets just say its a trip we won't forget .. First we went to the tourists office where we watched a short film on how St.Brigid made her mark on this historical town :) then we went to the church of Ireland cathedral , where close by we saw Brigids kitchen and a huge round tower :O after that we took a short walk to Starbucks where I freshened up with a tall hot chocolate extra cream ;) it was lovely and all the T.Ys chatted over everything :) then we visited Brigids first well where everyone blessed themselves with the water and prayed :) then after another long walk we came to an abrupt stop at a gorgeous garden :) there we could see the broth bride hanging off the trees and as we all gathered around there was a great sense of peace and calmness as we could hear the river flow :) On the bus home .,, it was quiet all the T.Ys were finally tired and speechless ! I slept well that night anyways :L
